2023 68th Annual SAPSF Conference
The South African Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (SAPSF) proudly hosted its 68th annual conference, a gathering that encapsulated innovation, collaboration, and a shared vision for the future of pharmacy. Held at The Midrand Conference Centre, this conference unfolded from the 1st to the 3rd of December 2023, bringing together leaders, delegates, and esteemed speakers from across the spectrum of the Pharmacy Profession.

The 68th SAPSF conference was organized by a dedicated committee led by SAPSF 2022/23 Presidential Committe, who brought together a multifaceted team representing diverse branches within SAPSF. The collaborative efforts of this committee underscored the inclusive nature of this event.

One of the standout features of the conference was the robust participation of 7 out of the 9 SAPSF branches, marking a commendable increase in engagement compared to prior editions. The attending branches are namely TUTAPS, SMUAPS, ULAPS, WPSC, UWCAPS, RUPSA and PEPSA. Each of the attending branches contributed insightful reports that shed light on the accomplishments and challenges encountered by their respective student bodies.

The outgoing Presidential committee, in their comprehensive report led by President Nukeri, not only highlighted their achievements but also depicted areas for improvement, providing invaluable guidance for the incoming committee. Notably, the PresCo forged strategic alliances with other professional associations, fostering a network crucial for the evolution of pharmacy practice.

Under the theme of Pharmacy Students united in growing the profession, the conference welcomed esteemed guests from prominent organizations and institutions. These distinguished speakers addressed the pressing issues facing pharmacists and aspiring professionals, enriching the discourse and propelling attendees towards proactive solutions. Notable figures such as Dr Stavros Nicolau, Lt. Col Precious Ncwayiyana and Mr Kgabo Komape graced the event, sharing insights and perspectives that left a lasting mark on the proceedings.

The pinnacle moment arrived with the election and announcement of the new PresCo, ushering in a wave of optimism and anticipation for the future of SAPSF. The incoming leadership, comprising individuals from diverse branches, embodies a collective commitment to steering the federation toward continued growth and excellence. The following branch members were elected to serve in the new Presidential Committe:

The conference came to an end with the Clinical Skills Competition, skilfully facilitated by Mr Ntando Nxumalo, which witnessed enthusiastic participation from the representatives of each branch with the PEPSA branch of SAPSF securing the prestigious first position as led by Mr Hopewell Moyo (PEPSA) and Mr Kwazi Dlamini (WPSC).

The newly elected President, Tshepiso Masiganuga, took the podium to close the conference, delivering an inspiring speech that focused on the spirit of unity, progress, and collective aspiration. With this, the conference drew to a close, leaving an indelible mark on the collective consciousness of all attendees.
